Open to the Views of Others

“People interested in the opinions of others welcome collaboration and actively seek it out.  They understand the benefits of the wisdom that comes from the life experiences of others. ”

(Todd Smith)

In the LLF conversations which occurred during Synod, it became apparent that it is very easy to disagree with or dismiss the views of someone that you don’t know.

When you get to know that person on a personal level, however, it creates a new dynamic that allows you to see them as a whole person, rather than someone you disagree with.

You may find many things about them that you like, and you can become much more open to hearing their views and understanding where they come from, and why those views are held.

You may still disagree with their views, but the friendship that you can develop will help you to work through the issues in trust, open to the skills that they have, bestowed upon them by God.

The Open Synod Group provides a safe space for such mutual flourishing to take place.
